Ahead of DSFederal CEO Sophia Parker and President Michael Parker’s annual trip to Kabul, Afghanistan, the IDEA Foundation raised $8,478 through donations, silent auction bids, and raffle tickets at the DSFederal Holiday Party and IDEA Foundation Fundraiser. More than 200 people attended the event, which included an array of raffle drawings, a presentation about the IDEA Foundation, and an extended Bollywood fusion dance piece performed by Padma Tipparaju.

Sophia and Michael left Monday to deliver funds, clothing, and supplies to several Afghan organizations that advocate for the stability of women and children, including the Aschiana Center. During their week-long trip, they will visit schools and vocational institutions, delivering school supplies, warm clothing, and funds to sustain teachers’ salaries.
